Daily, my readers show how they are engaged in their books. Whenever it is time to stop, I hear a chorus of, "just one more chapter." I want to encourage them with an environment that supports their ability to explore new books and take advantage of our growing classroom library in ways that best supports each individual reader.
Utilizing flexible and adaptive technolog to create inviting library spaces are essential to help students succeed. Headphones, styluses, and lap desks allow students to choose where they work and to adapt as needed. Varying seating options improves their focus and stamina, and an easily accessible library supports student learning.
I want to be able to better support the growth of my readers by surrounding them with an inviting classroom library. Incorporating flexible seating and adaptive technology will help students feel empowered by individual choice and control over their environment. Headsets, styluses, and whiteboards will support students using voice recognition to annotate books, and grow their literary skills by commenting on what they have read. Access to books in inviting ways has the potential to increase student motivation, engagement, and achievement, as well as help students become critical thinkers, analytical readers, and informed citizens.
