The flexible seating options will allow the students to take control of their learning by identifying choices that work best for them. Sitting in their seats for the majority of the day makes the day feel incredibly long for them, but with wiggle seats and chair bands, the students will be able to get extra movement at their seats, while the clip boards will allow them to work in various parts of the room without needing to be at a table.
My students are more engaged in their learning when they are provided choices as to where they would like to work and what they would like to do. The reading and math learning centers will also provide them with opportunities to work in different parts of the classroom while developing their reading and math skills, as well as their social-emotional skills through collaborating with their peers. Providing choice and collaboration options are essential this year, especially for Kindergarten, because many students did not participate in a PreKindergarten program or participated virtually which hindered their ability to make choices and collaborate with peers within the classroom.
