My students are bright young kindergarteners ready to learn every morning! Unfortunately they face many hardships living in a lower income area lacking in resources. My students have little to no access to books at home or in their community.
I love my kindergarten students because, at such a young age, they have extreme passion for things they love. Some love toys or cartoons, but I can tell you that these 5 year olds LOVE to read! Reading is such an important tool in life and when they finally develop their reading skills it is such a joy to watch and listen to them read. Walking up the stairs one might say, "Look that says 'up'!" Every little sign you and I might just pass by is a gem to them! As their teacher I encourage them every day. I let them know they are building their knowledge to go to college! To do that, they need plenty of resources including an enriched library.
