The days of sitting at a desk all day in a regular chair learning from a teacher who is lecturing at the board is over! Students are taking charge of their learning and choosing spots in the classroom where they are most comfortable learning at. More and more classrooms are giving students choices when it comes to the type of seating they believe is most effective in helping them learn and stay focused. My students can choose to sit at a table or lay on the floor with a clipboard to do their work.
When students are given freedom in choosing where they work best, they are more focused, engaged, and less disruptive with their peers.
Unfortunately, our classroom doesn't have a variety of seating choices for my students. The wobble stools will allow students to rock or wobble back and forth while they work and learn. The stability balls will allow students to have some movement while they are working. Both options are especially helpful for students who need to move around in order to stay focused without disrupting or keeping others from learning.
