I teach 17 2nd Grade students at a Magnet School located in Hartford, Connecticut. I work at a school where free breakfast and lunch is served daily. Most of my students do not eat meals at home and come to school very tired and hungry. My students all have diverse backgrounds and come to school each and every day so eager and willing to learn. Many of my students suffer from an abundant amount of social/emotional issues going on in their personal lives which at times could make the long school day very difficult for them. However, despite the daily issues that most of my students face, everyday, they come into my classroom with such perseverance and try their personal best. My school and classroom is a safe and happy place for my students.
