Last year was an eye-opener in many ways. The students in my classroom were forced to learn in a less than ideal situation due to the pandemic. I would like to implement a way for my students to learn from a more hands-on approach. By introducing tactile learning games in my classroom, I can bring back a learning environment focused on collaborative learning. Students crave the ability to learn and interact with their friends, something that was severely limited last year. Studies show that "flexible seating allows [students] to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow, and core strength; This helps keep young minds more alert and focused". Giving my students autonomy over their seating arrangements will both empower them to make choices about their learning environment and give them comfort within said environment. An uncomfortable student is a distracted and unproductive student. Flexible seating will also help students that suffer from ADHD or other mental disorders who can benefit from passive stimulation and accommodations.
