These supplies will help my students pursue their wonderings about our local water systems, which will then be published in a student produced magazine. Our class has direct access to the bay and ocean, so fieldwork can be done regularly to sample local plankton species, capture underwater photography of waves, observe sea lions, and collect benthic organisms with sieves. A class wagon would be an excellent addition to assist with the transportation of equipment from the water to the school. This would allow for smaller groups to sample the water without having to worry about how they can logistically carry their supplies.
By donating to our project, you will assist students on their journey to value our oceans. It is our goal to enhance a student's understanding of the ocean so they have a greater understanding of our planet and how to protect it. My students have already shown great interest in having meaningful experiences to learn about the world outside them, so what better place to start than the water in our backyard.
