Adding a classroom library would be great for my students because they would literally have books at their fingertips. Not only would they have books, readily available to read independently, but they would have high interest books that reflect who they are and how they feel.
The more you read, the more you are exposed to the world, the different people in it and things you may have never known existed.
When a person can personally connect to what they read, they absorb more and feel like someone understands them. While the classics are a wonderful way to create well rounded students, high interest novels give kids an outlet to feel a part of something bigger than themselves.
