Being uncomfortable does not improve attention or work ethic. By providing flexible seating options for students, we are allowing them to find a place to sit that will help them be physically and mentally comfortable and more able to focus on their work.
I will remove hard, uncomfortable desks and bring in tables, standing desks, a loveseat, and some soft chairs. The stools requested will give the students more options for seating at the tables, allowing them to collaborate better with each other on student-centered projects and group activities. The rug will give a warmer feeling to the room and a softer place so that the students can use table and reclining floor seats without being on the cold, hard tile. The clipboards will give the students seated in places other than tables and desks a hard surface to work when they have paperwork that needs to be completed.
These resources will give my students a better place to be and a better place to learn. They will be able to enjoy an environment that is warm, welcoming, and more conducive to learning and engagement.
