My Transitional Kindergarten students attend the neighborhood public school in an industrial section of our city. Most of them qualify for free school lunch. They are a beautiful rainbow of cultures: African American, Yemeni, Cambodian, Moroccan, White, and Latin American. My students are resilient, enthusiastic, curious, and eager to take advantage of any opportunity for exploration. I strive every day to keep the magic in TK, in addition to fulfilling district curricular requirements. My class still has the giant blocks and play house you remember from your kindergarten class, and we include science and art in every day's activities.
