My students need to use their muscles while engaging their brains in learning. Many studies show the benefit of using core muscles while reading, solving math problems, listening to directions. My fourth grade students all love to learn, but many of them just can't find a way to concentrate. We have become a classroom of flexible seating. Some stand, some sit, and some lay on the floor. We need a few more items to help my friends who need to move! My students need additional items that will help reduce stress and enhance concentration. I am asking for financial support to order six wobble stools, 4 stability cushions, and 10 bouncy bands for my classroom. I plan to utilize these throughout the day for my entire class. First, moving is relaxing and stress relieving. Many students would benefit from this self help skill. Students benefit from active learning and moving while working. I am excited to see the students use these while they are having group conversations, sharing a passage, planning their writing and listening to directions. Studies show that students increase their engagement and mastery of learning when actively engaging their large muscles as well as using their brain
