My students are from a rural community public school where more than half of our students are economically disadvantaged. I teach third grade and I wonder how we expect eight and nine year olds to sit quietly for so long working on pencil and paper tasks. I work hard to make sure that my students are up and moving as much as possible. I have studied STEM education and I feel that this is the best way to reach the most children. It offers a hands-on, inquiry based approach that gets students excited.
