With virtual reality (VR) headsets and smartphones, students will be able to walk through and experience the content. For this project, it is necessary to have both the VR headset and the smartphone. The VR headset is what the students will use for the experience of walking through places like the ancient ruins but the phone is what is used for the educational program.
With the virtual reality experience, learning can be enhanced. My students have various English language abilities which can sometimes cause them frustration when trying to learn new content. In my classroom, I want to minimize the barrier and I feel the best way is to let my students experience what we are learning. When there's a language barrier, students are not thinking about the content; they are thinking about how to translate the text. In a virtual reality experience, the students will be able to think less about the language barrier and more about the content.
