All of the materials I am requesting already have a home in my classroom. In other words, they will go right in to our classroom library. My students have been asking for new books for our library since most of them they read last year in 2nd grade.
The donations in this project will ensure my students love of reading. My students are interested in the nonfiction series Who Was...? and Who Would Win? books. They love to read about animals and people from the past. They also love to pretend they are in fiction stories they read like Fancy Nancy and The Weird School Series.
It is enjoyable to watch my students read alone or read with a partner and get excited about what is happening in the book. Anything I can do to keep these children interested in books is well worth it.
