My students come to me eager to learn - many of my students come into kindergarten without ever having set foot in any type of educational setting before. Many do not have the privileged of being exposed to educational opportunities such as vacations, family trips, many have never even left the county we live in! Several of my students do not even have computer, tablet or smart phone at home. Some parents don't even have an email account set up.
Our school does the best we can with the technology we have. Each classroom is equipped with a Smartboard, at least 2 computers & we have a shared computer lab. With that being said, many of our computers do not work or are constantly needing to be worked on. Prior to this year we had a handful of Nooks & no iPads. 3 colleagues & I wrote a grant and gained 4 iPad carts for our school. We are some of the first in our county to implement one-to-one devices for learning in our K, 1st , 2nd & 3rd grade classrooms.
