My students live in varying degrees of poverty and are English language learners, but these factors do not affect their motivation and desire to learn. They come from all over the world- seven different languages are spoken in class. Their families are supportive but struggling to live in an expensive city in California, yet I am consistently amazed by the resiliency of these families in their efforts to educate their children.
