In a world where new jobs pop up every moment and skills have moved from factory workers to critical thinkers, we need to provide our students with the opportunity to learn in an environment that is suited for such thinking. We need to move away from traditional classroom settings to a classroom set up to allow students to learn in the best way they can. Not all students can sit in a desk all day and not all students can stand to be in a classroom for 8 hours 5 times a week.
I aim to make my classroom more inviting and welcoming to be more of an oasis than a "do I have to go to class" setting. This takes time and patience to set up so while I've already purchased a lot of decorations and lighting to help create this setting, I still need seating, space, and more elements such as a bookshelf to help organize all the new reading material I already purchased to keep them engaged and excited to read. The beanbags will provide students with a comfortable place to sit and read whenever we do flexible seating. The floor cushions will also give students a comfortable place to sit that's different from their traditional desks. A lot of students have a hard time sitting in a desk all day and some would prefer to stand, the laptop cart will act as standing desks which will give some of my students the opportunity to get out of their seat and still do their work. Finally, to add to the ambiance the lighted willlow vine will help transform the room from traditional to cozy and inviting. Please help us prepare our students for the future!
