On any day you can walk in to room A205 and find children on the carpet, under desks, in the class library, or in the corner near the window. Initially, I thought that allowing my students to sit somewhere other than their desk would be chaos. BOY WAS I WRONG! Instead my students were more ENGAGED and the quality of their work IMPROVED. There was almost something MAGICAL that happened once they were untethered from the desks. Where once there were indifferent students, I had ACTIVE, RESPONSIBLE learners. It changed the way I taught, making me a better teacher. The growth was tremendous. People said that we COULDN'T do it; WE DID! Despite their lack of experiences, despite their socioeconomic status, despite a lack of resources our students are showing that GIVEN the opportunity, they can SOAR.
I'm excited about the possibilities for STUDENT LEARNING in this new year. It's going to be #AMAZING!
