Students need an outlet when they are feeling stressed. Instead of sending students out of the classroom, I would like to provide them with an area in my room where they can calm down on their own, take a break, and collect themselves in a more positive manner.
Students will be able to use this corner any time they feel they cannot concentrate and need a short break or are feeling stressed, anxious, or angry.
This would benefit my students greatly as I have seen the need for a more positive approach and would love to see them succeed. All students have the need for relaxation and stress relief, and if I can provide that for a few minutes a day, that would be of great benefit to them in all of their classes. Each chair will be used and set up in the comfort corner for them to relax on while they calm down from any stressful event they may be dealing with on that particular day. The paintings have a relaxing ocean theme that will be placed around the chairs on the walls. The rug will obviously be under the chairs to make it a sort of "room" to relax. The aromatherapy will be set up on a small table for them to help them calm down if they so choose. All of the stress toys and squishy animals are for my students who fidget in class and cannot sit still. They can use them while sitting and relaxing during stressful times.
