My first grade students come from a diverse area in California, and have entered first grade with widely varying home experiences. Some of my students have strong parental involvement, while others live in single parent homes with little to no support at home. As such, their learning needs vary greatly. Some are ready to take off in reading, and will excel using these differentiated centers, while others are still mastering the alphabet and need the extra support with phonics and word work.
Our school is big, with over 600 students, and their are 24 students in my class. Giving my full attention to 24 energetic 6 year-olds is no easy task, and these centers will allow my students to work in small groups, while learning targeted reading and writing skills.
My students are full of energy, excited to learn, and LOVE anything that is hands-on and engaging. They can't wait to learn how to read and write! By funding this project, you will give them the chance to take off and really read!
