My students are ravenous for books that are able to provide them with self to text connections. They have recently developed a fondness for Walter Dean Myers, a local author who wrote about topics relatable to lives of my students. As a result, we have selected some titles we feel address current events and can help create that "Hey, me too!" experience. We may not be able to take many trips, but these books would make for a wild adventure. Once my students finished reading, "Monster", they wanted to dive right into the next novel. How could I tell them no?
