I purchased 3 wobble stools with my own money, and students are always asking when it is their turn to have one. For students who struggle to focus, this little bit of movement is often all that is needed. I saw a huge increase in the attention level of my constant "wigglers" when they were able to use the stool instead of a traditional chair. They also tuck nicely out of the way, which is so important in a class crowded with students, desks, tables and computer carts. I also have one taller stool stashed under my desk, which is perfect to take out when I'm working one-on-one with a student. I no longer need to have students waste time moving a chair to my desk in order to work with me.
When students engage their bodies during learning, they are more likely to retain the information being presented. These wobble stools give students the opportunity to move but stay within their own personal space and remain on task.
