John Steinbeck, a famous alumnus from our school, often wrote about the intertwining relationships of many groups of people coming together in a single community. The population of our high school is similarly diverse. We have students of many races and a range of socioeconomic backgrounds and personal experience. Some students are susceptible to the violent gangs of our city, while others are highly involved in the school and community and turn their goals toward college and future careers.
