Scholastic News will give the students the text material they need to become informed about the world, specifically the good deeds that humans have done around the globe. Most of our students do not read at grade level, and it would be a precious gift to have access to well-written nonfiction material filled with current events. This material can provide the jumping off point for classroom debates, role playing, letter writing to government officials, as well as conversation points with their peers. In the end, we can have a more informed student body who cares about the real issues in our world.
My students will have magazines to learn in the classroom and reading material to take home. They will be able to make real-world connections by taking the magazines home to use for homework assignments and to share their learning with their families. Scholastic News will offer fun and informative articles that will help my students become engaged and proficient readers.
