Envision Academy (EA) is a public tuition-free charter high school in Oakland. We serve predominantly African American and Latino/a students, most of whom qualify for the federal free and reduced lunch program.
EA is dedicated to transforming students' lives and preparing them for success in college and in life, by offering them a rigorous academic experience and a diverse, compassionate community. We emphasize student presentations to demonstrate learning, real-world experience in workplaces, development of 21st Century leadership skills, and authentic project-based learning.
My classes include United States History and Advisory, which encourage critical thinking, empathy, and reflection. With many students reading below grade level, my classes also focus intensively on literacy development. My class projects require students to research current issues and make connections to the world outside our classroom.
