This project is two-fold - our students start each year with a set of their own personal headphones. But because of the high poverty, many parents purchase the least expensive product and they breakdown very quickly. Last year one of our students scored VERY poorly on a reading test, only to discover that his headphones weren't working so he couldn't hear! We want to make sure that our connected classrooms of 50 students have working headphones to ensure they have every advantage to succeed.
Secondly, while we are also lucky to have communal iPad docking stations, the charging cords are used so often that they begin to short out. Since stations are communal, no one person is responsible, but all suffer the results. We want to make sure there is always a way to fully charge the iPads for everyone.
Our students are diverse, hardworking, loving, and dedicated. We need to ensure they have all the tools they need to meet the challenges of the 21st century. Your donation will help them to become tomorrow's self-sufficient talented adults.
