I believe that in order to become a better version or ourselves, we need continuous opportunities to learn habits of success. Most of my students struggle academically, but are gifted athletically. Through our class, we learn to exercise the mind and body through right brain activity and physical exertion in order to establish tangible evidence of success. With portable mats and working through the art of jiu jitsu and wrestling, students will quickly learn what it means to embrace humility and how to deal with adversity. Interaction on the mat, simultaneously communicates respect, healthy self-esteem, and a willingness to defer to others.
My goal is to have this translate into successful habits towards becoming great students who learn to be disciplined and exercise emotional intelligence to endure the daily challenges of their lives in and out of school .
