Technology is becoming more commonplace in our society. Students use technology both at home and at school and I am hoping to utilize their technological abilities to enhance their mathematical learning. My classroom has a variety of materials and activities to enhance learning, but I would like to incorporate technology more allowing for more in depth learning experiences.
"Asking all 6th-grade kids to master the same concept at the same time is like asking all 35-year-olds to wear the same size shirt," Justin Tarte. By using technology, I will create a self-paced, collaborative, engaged, supported learning community that will enhance my student's abilities to understand difficult mathematical concepts. Students will utilize online videos for each lesson, practice materials, and applications that will further their understanding. By using online lesson videos, students will be able to pause, rewind, fast forward, or repeat the videos until they understand the material being covered.
Students will access applications that will allow them to practice the skills and concepts being taught. They will answer questions during their videos to allow me to determine if further one-on-one assistance may be needed. Students will be in charge of their learning and will be able to determine if they understand the concept enough to move on to the next lesson or if they may need further assistance.
