My students are of African-American descent with 100% of them receiving free or reduced school meals. Our school is located in a high poverty neighborhood, where children are exposed to crime and violence daily. Nevertheless, they are excited about learning and they come to school every day with hope, expectation and enthusiasm! They never cease to amaze me. These kiddos warm my heart.
