The headphones will be assigned each year to a new set of ears. Quality headphones will benefit my students for many years to come. With a class set of headphones, we could use them for our language arts rotations where they use story making sites, spelling practice applications, and listening centers. We could also use them for our math block when we practice our multiplication fluency. Having a set of headphones rather than earbuds will allow the kids to use them as a "noise canceling" tool in order to stay focused while working. The most important time we will use the headphones will be during state testing. Headphones will give my students a huge advantage! They will be able to hear the question, as well as listen to important instructions. They will also block out background noise around them. They will feel comfortable, engaged and ready to do their best. It would make a huge difference!
It is crazy to think that something like a set of headphones would make a difference in my kids lives, but they would.
The ability to stay focused is a huge advantage. A successful classroom is a place where kids feel loved, respected, and comfortable. I would love to supply my students every year with the kind of headphones that they deserve.
