I am a first year teacher and I am trying to make my classroom welcoming to them. Their home lives may not support their education in ways that they need, so I want to make sure that I can do that.
I want my classroom to be their home away from home. I want them to love walking in every morning.
In order to do this I am asking for flexible seating options. This includes the Giant Comfy Pillows, Beanbag Seats, and Wobbly cushions. This will create a great reading nook that will encourage and welcome my students to read. I am hoping that this will make them more comfortable to lounge and get lost in a good book. I can also use these options to help differentiate for students during direct instruction.
I requested different materials to help decorate the classroom for them. Although most of what will be on the walls will be their work, I would like to capture their interest from day one.
The peacock themed items will be used for a bulletin board specifically geared towards their best work each week. I am going to give my students the option to pick one activity that they completed during the week that they feel is their best work. This will hang outside of my classroom so that everyone could see their great achievements.
