In today's classroom, students enjoy movement, music, comfort, and structure. Implementing comfortable stations during math and reading require kids to have warm, inviting areas around the room. Being able to have a comfortable carpet area for them to enjoy quiet reading would be amazing.
Making learning fun, interesting, and innovative for kids leads to more engagement! THEY LOVE BEING ABLE TO USE TECHNOLOGY TO LEARN AND PLAY! At my school we use online math and literacy programs daily. I have noticed that the students who could not afford earbuds to hear their program did not perform as well. Having earbuds will allow them more focus and more effectiveness while using technology.
My station rotations also involve a lot of laminated activities that allow for reuse each day. Having a laminator and laminating sleeves will help to create station materials conveniently that are more creative and valuable to student learning.
I always model each student-led station activity before sending them off. We use large chart paper daily to introduce new topics. With second grade standard course of study adding a new handprint standard, the large writing paper will make teacher modeling more effective.
Having the opportunity to provide these gifts to my students will be something that I will forever feel grateful for!
