My kindergarten classroom is filled with thirty eager to learn five and six year old students. We do not have a full day kindergarten program but instead hold two sessions. I have fourteen students in the morning and sixteen in the afternoon. Some of my students do not have the materials or support at home to reinforce skills at home. These students need the extra support in the classroom to be successful. I have a couple students who are already fluently reading but I want them to explore as many new and different books as they can. With my other students I will be working with them to gain Phonological awareness skills they need to start reading. By the end of the year I want them to be pulling books out of the library and reading.
