This year I have a group of 150 amazing students! My students come from an array of family backgrounds with the majority of them coming from low-income homes. Each day my students come to school to learn and have a chance to escape the responsibilities they are forced to take on at a young age, like many students in high-poverty communities. They are excited about coming to school, but they are very aware that we are lacking basic supplies and materials other schools in our district enjoy in abundance.
It doesn't take much to make a difference in the lives of these students--everyday they remind us that it's the little things that matter!
