When my principal proposed flexible seating, I thought, "No way could this be a good idea. The kids will just play!" After doing a TON of research and reading blogs about how it benefits students academically and behaviorally and has positively transformed classrooms everywhere, I quickly jumped on board. I began looking into ways to adapt my classroom to meet the needs of my students. Flexible seating is proven to help students work more comfortably so that they can focus on their work and be more productive. My students need 4 Wobble Chairs, 4 Balance Balls, and 4 Wobble Cushions. When students get to choose between standing, sitting on the floor, an exercise ball, or bean bag chair, this helps them to engage and release the built-up energy that kids naturally always have.
