Hands-on labs. Group collaboration. Trial and error. That's what science is all about? Right? Well, covid has made it difficult to maintain a hands-on lab for our students in a safe manner. Group supplies are limited and at times we have to share with another grade level.
Even in the midst of a pandemic, we strive to make science meaningful for each student! We have continued to engage in labs and collaborate, just in smaller groups. As a result of breaking into smaller lab groups, we have found a need for additional supplies that would help our students complete their labs in a safe and efficient manner.
We are in need of 32 digital scales (8 per classroom) that would allow us to put a scale at each table of 4 students instead of lining the students up to use 1 or 2 scales that we borrowed from the 8th-grade classes. Having our own digital scales at each lab station would increase efficiency and engagement while maintaining social distancing and safety protocols as best we can.
