It used to be that learning a language was boring and felt hard. I'm changing that! My classes are engaging, effective and equitable. But I only have so much time. In order to acquire even MORE language even FASTER, my students need to READ! Reading for pleasure in a second language is the quickest and most effective way to build vocabulary.
These books will hook my students into language learning, helping them build confidence and competence and see themselves as natural language learners without even realizing it!
We'll use them for free voluntary reading and literature circles. We'll act them out and illustrate them. I'll even have the higher level students do read alouds with the beginners in a "Kindergarten Day" that will remind middle schoolers of their favorite elementary teachers.
These novels will help me spark a love for both reading and language acquisition. They'll travel to far away places in their stories and be inspired to travel to far away places later in life.
