I teach Gifted and Talented students at the elementary level at a public school. I work with students ranging from 1st - 5th grade. We learn about topics and subjects that students may not be able to explore in their homeroom classes. Many of the lessons are advanced for students their age and require higher thinking skills. The activities revolve around visual spatial skills, problem solving, and using their creative abilities. Many of the activities require them to do additional research and require them to think outside of the box, or sometimes to even change the box completely.
Students use these activities to also work on their character and perseverance. We learn that grit and growth mindset are necessary to not only improve our outlooks on life, but to also help build our brains, literally! Luckily, I get to work with many of the students for years and know that they are so deserving of any donations.
