The materials requested are imperative to my true assessment of my students. During small groups, the Whisper Phone Select allows me to zone in on one student reading at a time. During small groups, all of the students in the small group are currently whisper reading. This piece of technology would allow me to know what literacy strategies to work on with each child.
The timer helps my students properly manage when they need to rotate centers. Our centers rotate about every 25-30 minutes daily and they have 2 minutes to clean up and get settled into their new center. The timer would allow students to self-monitor how much time they have left at a center.
Partitions would be nice to have during tests. It allows me to truly test the individual student's abilities and also cuts back on any distractions to those children that are easily distracted. Currently they are using folders that are not durable and the papers in the folders are starting to pile up making it even more difficult to stand up.
The purpose for the stamps are to give back positive feedback to my students as much as possible to promote and develop a growth mindset in my classroom. I want them to see that if they work hard they can achieve anything.
In math, we are learning place value. If children could see and feel visual examples of the base ten blocks, it would allow them to get more of a concrete solid foundation of the important standard of place value. My students are very hands on.
