As a Career Specialist for Jobs for Alabama's Graduates (JAG), I help prepare students for life after high school. I work with a combination of students including those at-risk of dropping out of school.
I focus on the four main goals of JAG: career development, leadership development, community/civic awareness, as well as social awareness. As a part of JAG, students attend two career conferences and a leadership development conference per year.
The school is located is a small, rural, high-need community where opportunities are extremely limited. A high percentage of students qualify for the free/reduced lunch program. Many of our students either live with mom, dad, foster-parent or close relative whom have not completed high school themselves.
Encouraging students to complete high school and pursue their education beyond K-12 is a huge priority in my job. I want to see each of my students succeed! .
