Some of my students experienced preschool, but some of my kindergarten students have entered the classroom brand new to school life and the United States. The items I have selected, such as pencil grips and claws, will assist these new learners in developing the fine-motor skills needed to write and create letters, numbers, and illustrations in their learning experiences.
Early development is important for my students. Students learn better with movement which is why flexible seating will be an engaging resource for my learners to use in my reading corner. This will give them a comfortable and fun place to sit and read. The learning outcomes you are supporting include phonemic awareness (magnetic board supply caddy, play dough and kit, play dough letter mats), language arts (chart tablet) writing (pencil grips, kid safe clipboards, write & wipe pockets), comprehension (story wands), and feedback to parents (Spanish teacher stamps). My class has a high level of Spanish speaking families.
You will also be supporting a more comfortable classroom atmosphere as children will have flexible soft seats. The clipboards will prevent accidents for little fingers. The supply caddy will provide my group table with the organization they need to successfully have space for their daily supplies and procedures that I am trying to teach them.
Variety is a must have for younger children. The newer generations constantly need to be motivated and engaged through different materials. This project will provide several ways for me to keep the children in my class excited to come to school and learn!
