In order to build socially literate kindergarteners, my students need to have access to high quality texts that teach the importance of diversity, building character, and social studies. My students love looking at pictures in books and stories. By having these texts available, I will be able to utilize them during our read aloud time and my students will be able to explore their content.
My students will use these books to guide their development of global social awareness. After accessing the content of these books, my students will be better prepared to become strong, global citizens. My students will gain an awareness of differences that exist amongst all of our classroom friends and in the world. They will also be able to communicate to others the importance of these differences and how we need to respect them.
