My students are a group of first graders who live in a rural area with an increasing poverty rate. There are twenty-three students within the classroom. The students often differ in ages, race, home life, and academic understanding. There is also a high number of students on medication for attention disorder, so an additional learning location would be helpful. This age group loves to gather together to play math games and read alone or with a buddy. They are very social at this age.
