I have been an urban educator for 20 years. I love being able to make a difference in the lives of my inner city students! I learn such resilience from my kiddos! They have hurdles, but keep striving! My second graders are reading between a K - 4th grade levels. It is difficult to plan and provide for such a wide range of skills, but it is absolutely critical for student success. Currently, 98% of our K-8th grade students receive a free/reduced breakfast and lunch. Nearly 30% of our K-8th grade students have one or more disabilities. Living in poverty, my students encounter great struggles. Although my students may not be able to control where they live or how they live, they can control their thoughts, dreams, goals and aspirations. I invite you to help our future leaders, my students, grow in their academics, social skills and emotional coping skills. Together, we can make the difference!
