My students struggle with sitting still and focusing in hard plastic chairs while they read and work, especially after the turmoil of the last year and a half of the pandemic. These seating choices will give them a place to settle down and focus.
We know that when a kid finds the right book, it inspires them to read more. The more they read, the more they will know! The graphic novels will allow all my students, especially my ELL & students with learning disabilities, the opportunity to connect better with text. I chose a wide variety that includes several classic texts that are normally in chapter book format. I currently have some graphic novels and those are the most read books in my classroom library, so being able to offer middle school students a bigger variety that isn't falling apart is huge!
The charging station will give them a spot to put away their iPads and charge them while focusing on real books.
