My students are rural, Pacific Island, middle school kids who have a thirst to learn and experience new things related to their respective classes. They attend a school that receives Title 1 funding with a majority of students on free and reduced lunch. The school is home to 822 students that are part of a remote island chain with unique and rich history. The students are proud of this history and culture. Many students dance Hula, surf waves, fish and hunt. They bring this rich culture into the classes they attend. Many of my students have learning disabilities, health impairments, or other medical diagnosis' that prevent them from being able to be part of the general education classes. Many of these classes are able to bring in technology and other activities that my students are not able to access because they require a pullout class with myself. Many of my students do not have Internet access at home and coming into school to access the internet is a big deal for them.
