These Kindle Fire Tablets will give my students an opportunity to access online educational programs and resources on a daily basis. As it is now, my class of 17 have to share the one iPad that has been assigned to our room or borrow iPads from other classes. This makes scheduling "technology" time for each student difficult and leaves students feeling disappointed when they are unable to take a quiz on a book they've worked hard to finish or practice a math skill they need more time to master.
Engagement and motivation increase dramatically when my students utilize digital resources. They absolutely love learning through interactive online programs while working toward educational goals! Having a set of Kindles in our classroom will allow students to work in groups during a technology-infused lesson or work individually by rotating through centers to research a topic we are learning about, practice a new math skill, or read/take quizzes on books.
Not only will consistent access to technology improve their academic performance but it will strengthen their 21st-century skills.
