Having these Arduino micro controller starter kits in the classroom I can incorporate programming and engineering into my math classes. Students seem to also ways ask "why do we do this..." or "when are we going to use it?" Using the starter kits I can place my student in small groups of 3-4 and have them write a programs. By writing programs Order of Operations become very important and necessary very quickly. Students can modify the program by changing the order or parameters and see in real time how that math changes.
Hands on learning is the best type of learning. Students will be able to understand the inverse relationships of Ohm's Law better when the "life" of the LED is at stake verses doing some algebraic manipulation. These starter kits connect all the parts of STEM into one amazing lesson.
