Because all students learn differently, flexible seating gives each student the opportunity to choose a seat that they feel helps them focus. My students currently have many different seating options and I have found that many of them know when they need specific seating. Many of my students use kneeling pads on a low table because they are more comfortable, some like the stability balls so they can "bounce" while they work, others will sit on the floor and use a lap desk or a bed table to work. This choice system gives the students ownership of their learning and they are very conscious that these options are a privilege and tend to do their best work in this non traditional seating environment.
