My classroom is made up of 100% free or reduced lunch students. For the layman, that means poor! I myself make a pittance. All that matters is that we need each other and through that trust, I teach. We may not look like the average classroom. I may not teach like the average teacher, but we get the job done. This year I want them to tell everyone their stories. They aren't cookie cutter stories - some will make you laugh, some cry. I want to show how this special school slowly turns into a family. It is through my passion of teaching and learning that I, as the adult, can bring these young students hope. Honestly, that is what being a teacher is really about.
